Fatal Traffic Accident at 6200 Westheimer

Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 6200 Westheimer about 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday (Jan. 1).  

The victim, 43, a pedestrian, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Rossman and Officer R. Bymaster reported:  

The driver of a maroon Dodge Caravan was traveling eastbound on Westheimer when the victim attempted to cross the street and was struck.  The victim, who did not cross at a crosswalk or intersection, died at the scene.  The driver of the Dodge remained at the scene, was questioned and released.  

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this accident.
